Where does the name Tapja come from?

Tapja is a coined word, not an acronym. The name is made of two parts: “tap”, for the NFC tap or QR scan that adds the card, and “ja” — German for yes — for the confirmation that follows. Tap and confirmed: nothing more happens at the counter.

It is pronounced “TAP-ya”, with the stress on the first syllable. In writing the brand is always “Tapja”; only the wordmark in the logo is set in lowercase.

What does Tapja do?

Tapja replaces the cardboard stamp card with one that lives in a customer’s phone wallet and updates itself.

Where does the name Tapja come from?
Tapja combines “tap” (the NFC tap or QR scan) with “ja”, the German word for yes, standing for the confirmation. Tap and confirmed — the name describes exactly what happens at the counter.
Is Tapja an acronym?
No. Tapja is a coined word built from “tap” and “ja”, and it does not stand for anything. That is also why the brand is never written in capitals, always as “Tapja”.
