CARD TYPES

Which card type fits your business?

Reward, sell upfront or manage members: all five card types run in Apple & Google Wallet, with no app at all for your customers. Pick the type that fits your program.

Free forever · no credit card · no app for your customers

HOW TO CHOOSE

Four questions to the right card type.

The card type decides how your programme feels day to day: for you at the till and for your customers in the wallet. These four questions almost always settle it.

  1. Do you want to reward, sell upfront or manage members?
  2. Do your guests come often enough to collect at all?
  3. Do your customers buy roughly the same thing every time?
  4. Do you want one reward or several tiers?

The four questions explained in full

Do you want to reward, sell upfront or manage members?

Most businesses want to reward: that is what stamps, points and benefits are for, and the three questions below decide between them. If you sell services in advance, ten coffees or five treatments, the package card is right. If you run a club or an annual membership with fixed perks, the membership card. Both are available from Home Base, and in both cases payment happens at your counter, not through tapja.

Do your guests come often enough to collect at all?

A café sees the same faces several times a week, a hair salon every six to eight weeks, a workshop maybe twice a year. Collecting only works where a full card is within reach in a reasonable time. Where it is not, the benefits card is the honest answer: it counts nothing and instead carries a concrete benefit that applies from the first visit.

Do your customers buy roughly the same thing every time?

When a coffee, a loaf or a haircut sit close together in price, the stamp card is the most honest option: every visit counts the same and nobody has to do maths. As soon as basket sizes vary a lot, a stamp for €3 and one for €40 start to feel unfair. That is where the points card fits better.

Do you want one reward or several tiers?

A single clear reward (“10 coffees, 1 free”) works immediately and explains itself. If you want to work with tiers instead (a €5, €10 and €20 voucher), you need points, because stamps are too coarse for that.

You are not locked in: from the Favourite Spot plan onwards you can run several programmes side by side, a membership card plus a points card for check-ins, for example. Benefits, package and membership cards belong to the Home Base plan.

SIDE BY SIDE

All five card types side by side.

Stamp card or points card, which one is better?
Your basket decides. When the amounts sit close together, a coffee, a loaf or a haircut, the stamp card is the more honest choice: every visit counts the same and nobody has to do maths. When the basket varies a lot, say between €3 and €40, the points card rewards more fairly because it follows turnover rather than the visit. Both live in Apple & Google Wallet, with no app for your guests, and both cost nothing on the Free plan.
When does the benefits card beat a collecting card?
When your guests come too rarely to ever fill a card. A workshop or a photo studio sees the same person maybe twice a year, and by the next visit any collecting card is long forgotten. The benefits card counts nothing: it carries redeemable benefits, each with its own run time, its own quota and a per-guest limit. It is available from Home Base.
How does a digital 10-visit card work?
With the package card: your guest buys ten coffees upfront at your counter, for example, your team confirms the payment, and the card in the wallet counts one unit down on every visit. tapja processes no money and keeps no stored value, only the units. The package card is available from Home Base.
Is there a digital membership card?
Yes. The membership card shows status, term and member number in the wallet, and at the counter your team sees which perks apply. It does not count visits; for that you add the points card. tapja does not collect fees. It is available from Home Base.
Can I switch the card type later?
Yes. The first card does not lock you in, you can change the card type in the browser dashboard. So take the type that fits your day today instead of deliberating for long.
Can I run several card types at the same time?
On the Free plan you run one programme of your choice, stamps or points. From the Favourite Spot plan onwards you can run several programmes side by side, for example a stamp card for everyday business and a benefits card for campaigns (available from Home Base).

Choose your card type and bring the first card into the wallet.
