Wallet & devices
How the card gets into the wallet, how card updates work and how to pair counter devices.
Getting the card into the wallet
Guests get the card via QR code or link, for example from a stand at the counter. It lands in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, with no app for your guests, no account and no password.
All it takes is a name and an email address. The birthday is optional. Whether a guest wants to receive marketing is their choice, with a separate, optional checkbox.
Card updates and notifications
When something on the card changes, such as the stamp balance or an available reward, the card in the wallet updates itself. For important changes, a short note appears on the lock screen.
Notifications to guests are technically card updates with a change message, not arbitrary push notifications. That respects the rules of Apple and Google. Guests can turn off a card’s notifications in their wallet at any time.
Email confirmation
After adding the card, the guest receives an email with a confirmation link. Collecting works straight away, redeeming rewards only after confirmation. That protects you from made-up cards.
If the confirmation does not arrive, tapja reminds the guest by email beforehand. After 30 days the card is paused. The balance is kept, and once confirmed the card can be used again.
Pairing counter devices
Under “Devices” you create a counter device for a location and pair it with the staff app. You start the counter in the browser via “Set up counter” directly on the computer you are signed in on, or pair another computer or a tablet with a code.
A shared device is used by several staff members; the person acting enters their PIN before every action. A personal device belongs to one person, who signs in once with a PIN.
If a device is no longer needed or has been lost, remove it under “Devices”. After that it can neither stamp nor redeem. Only the staff app can work offline.
