tapja

For your team

The one app tapja has, and it belongs to your team.

Your guests download nothing, their loyalty card lives in Apple or Google Wallet. Your team, on the other hand, gets a real tool: the tapja staff app. It is what stamping, redeeming and handing out a new card run on, in seconds. And if nothing may be installed on the counter tablet, the same counter runs in the browser.

Free · included in every plan · as an app or in the browser

In short

  • Your guests need no app. Their card lives in Apple or Google Wallet, already installed on every smartphone.
  • Your team works with the tapja staff app for iOS and Android. It is free and included in every plan.
  • Installing it is optional: the same counter runs in the browser, with the device paired once via a code. Only the app additionally keeps working offline.
  • An existing smartphone, tablet or the computer at the till is enough. No new hardware, no POS integration, no IT project.
  • Signing up, designing the card, choosing a plan and viewing statistics all run in the browser. Nothing to install there.
  • The app is for signing in, not for setting up. Creating an account or paying for a plan deliberately does not happen there, but in the web dashboard.
What the app does

Built for the moment at the counter.

Between the order and the till there are a few seconds. That is exactly what the app is cut for.

  • Scanning is the constant action

The app opens straight into the scanner, no menu hunting. Guest’s card in front of the camera, stamp on, done. Under three seconds in practice.

  • Scan context, not guesswork

On scanning, your team sees the name, regular status, stamp balance and the currently active offer. Even if the guest deleted the push, your team can still offer the voucher.

  • Hand out a card, with attribution

Your team issues new cards straight from the app. Every card is attributed to the person who handed it out, so you can see who actually wins guests.

  • Redeem with PIN protection

Rewards are redeemed in the app, PIN-protected if you want. Whether the reward threshold is met is always checked on the server, never on the device.

  • My numbers

Everyone on the team sees their own stats for today, the week and the month. Motivating, without a forced leaderboard.

  • Correct it, don’t argue about it

Stamped twice by accident? Manual corrections and reversals are built in, documented and PIN-protected. No debates at the counter.

  • Keeps working when the connection drops

If the connection goes, the app still accepts stamps and redemptions and remembers them on the device. As soon as it is back they go out automatically, each action with its own identifier, so nothing gets booked twice. The one exception: package card units are only deducted with a connection.

  • Kiosk mode for a fixed tablet

If a tablet lives on the counter permanently, you lock it to the scan view. No menu, no accidents, the screen stays awake, and the mode survives a restart.

Or straight in the browser

The counter runs in the browser too.

Nothing may be installed on the tablet at the counter? It does not have to be. You pair the device once with a short code from the dashboard, and from then on the counter runs in the browser: scan, stamp, redeem, hand out a card. Same PIN protection, same attribution, same logs as in the app.

Pair once, then it just runs

Generate a short device code in the dashboard, type it into the browser, done. The device stays paired until you release it again.

Camera or handheld scanner

The browser reads the wallet card through the device camera. If you already have a USB or Bluetooth handheld scanner at the till, that works just as well.

The same protection as the app

A PIN per action on a shared device, server-side redemption checks, an entry in the log. The route changes nothing about the safeguards.

So when is the app better?

When the connection at the counter is shaky. The native app accepts stamps and redemptions without a connection and sends them on once it is back (except package card units, which need a connection). The browser needs to stay connected.

Both belong to every plan, and you do not have to choose: plenty of businesses run the counter tablet in the browser and keep the app on their own phone as well.

Two ways to run it

One device for everyone, or one each.

You decide how your business works. Both are supported, both stay cleanly attributable.

Counter mode

A shared device sits on the counter and stays signed in. Whoever stamps identifies themselves with their PIN. Every action stays attributed to a person, without anyone signing in and out all day.

For cafés, bakeries, takeaways: one tablet at the counter

Personal device

Each person signs in with their own login on their own phone. Handy when your team is moving around or working across several areas.

For salons, studios, field work and food trucks

Or with no team at all

Guests stamp themselves.

When nobody at the counter has a moment, your guest collects the stamp on their own. You switch it on per program and decide how much proof you need. Available from Favourite Spot.

QR stand

A printed code on the table or at the door. Quick to set up, but to be honest: a QR code does not prove someone was really there. Good for places where you trust your guests.

NFC stand or NFC card

Your guest holds their phone to the stand or to a card your team keeps at the counter. Every tap creates a one-time signed proof. A photo or a forwarded link does not count.

Both run side by side, and the limits per guest apply across all stands. The card still gets into the wallet via QR code.

Every way to stamp, with plan and cost
Setting up

Ready in three steps.

The app is the last step of setup, not the first. Your program comes first, then the tool that runs it.

  1. 1

Sign up in the browser and design the card

The account is created in the web dashboard, not in the app: enter your email, add your business, pick the card type, design and reward rule. If you want a paid plan, you book it right there; billing runs through Stripe.

  2. 2

    Add your staff

Create an account with a role and PIN for each person on the team. How many you get depends on your plan; the free plan includes two.

  3. 3

Download the app and sign in

Get the staff app free onto the device and sign in with the account from step 1. The scanner is then open and your team can start stamping.

Fraud protection

Stamps are money. Secured accordingly.

A loyalty program is only worth as much as its protection against abuse. That is why at tapja the server always decides, never the device in someone’s hand.

Cooldown against double stamps

Per card program you set how much time must pass between two stamps. Scanning ten times in a row gets nobody anywhere.

Server-side redemption check

Whether a reward is due is decided by the server. A tampered device cannot force a reward.

Complete audit log

Every action is logged with person, location and timestamp, filterable and exportable as CSV.

Staff protection built in

No forced leaderboard, no quotas, minimised profiling. The reporting exists for attribution, not surveillance (§26 BDSG).

And your guests?

They still download nothing.

This is where tapja differs from building your own customer app: the hurdle sits with you, not with your customers. Your team installs one app, and in exchange nobody has to be talked into a store download at the counter. Your guests scan the QR code on the stand and have the card in Apple or Google Wallet with a single tap, with no account and no password.

Questions about the staff app.

Question not listed?
Write to us, a person will answer.

Do I really need an app as a business?
No, you get to choose. The tapja staff app is the fastest tool for the counter: free, included in every plan, running on a smartphone or tablet you already own. If you would rather install nothing, you pair your counter device with a code and work in the browser instead: scanning, stamping, redeeming and handing out cards work either way. The difference: only the app keeps working without internet. Everything else, designing cards, statistics and campaigns, happens in the browser dashboard anyway.
Do my guests need an app too?
No. Your guests’ card lives in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, already installed on every smartphone. They scan the QR code and tap “Add to Wallet” once. No download, no account, no password for them.
Can I sign up inside the app?
No, that deliberately happens in the browser only. The first time round you create your account and business in the web dashboard; the app has a sign-in screen and points you to the browser to register. The reason is practical: setting up means designing the card, uploading your logo and defining the reward rule, and that is far more comfortable on a computer than on a phone.
Where do I choose and pay for my plan?
Always in the web dashboard. Booking, switching and cancelling a plan run through Stripe there; the app only shows which plan you are currently on and points you to the browser to change it. tapja has no in-app purchases, neither for you nor for your guests.
What does the staff app cost?
Nothing extra. The app is included in every plan, including the permanently free one, and is never billed separately. tapja charges by program scope, not by app seats; how many staff accounts your plan includes is listed on the pricing page.
Which devices does it run on?
On iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets. It is a native app, so it talks to the camera directly. On a device where you cannot install anything (the computer at the till, say), you use the counter in the browser instead, either with the device camera or with your existing USB or Bluetooth handheld scanner.
Does everyone on the team need their own device?
No. In counter mode a shared device sits on the counter and stays signed in; whoever stamps identifies themselves with their PIN. Alternatively each person signs in with a personal login on their own phone. Both ways attribute every action to a person.
Can my team see my revenue and customer data?
No. The app is role-based: your team sees the scan context it needs at the counter, plus their own numbers. Analytics across all guests and locations stay in the dashboard, which only roles with the right permission can open.
Do I need a particular POS system for this?
No. tapja runs completely independently of your till, whether that is a modern cloud register, an old terminal or none at all. If you already have a barcode scanner at the till, the wallet card can show Code 128, PDF417 or Aztec instead of a QR code, so your existing scanner reads it directly.
What happens if the internet goes down?
The staff app keeps accepting stamps and redemptions and remembers them on the device; as soon as the connection is back they go out automatically. Nothing gets booked twice: every action carries its own identifier. The counter in the browser, by contrast, needs to stay connected; that is exactly what the app is for. Either way the guest loses nothing, because the balance sits with the business and not on their phone.
